英語介詞有哪些及用法

經典用法：透過→This is the nearest road by which they came。 在……時候→The young man works by day and steals money by night。由……所生→He has two sons by her second wife。 抓住→She caught her child by his coat in the flood。 按……計算→The farmers sell their apples by the pound。就（氣質，特徵）而言→He is an artist by temperament（氣質）。

英語介詞是英語中用以表明詞與詞或片語間關係的語法結構性詞類，其用法主要是將名詞性詞或片語置於所修飾或說明的句子成分之後，以表明該介詞前後句子成分語義關係。英語介詞（preposition 縮寫為 prep。）是英語中非常重要的語法型結構詞類。儘管英語介詞在句中是一個不能單獨作句子成分用的“小詞”（許多介詞都只有兩三個字母），但它卻是含有實際詞義並表明修飾和被修飾句子成分之間語義關係的“大詞”（錯誤地使用或理解會造成語義上的南轅北轍）。
