加拿大高中是什麼樣子？和中國差別挺大 ｜Kitty在加拿大

歡迎來到Kiity在加拿大的第十期。這一次，Kitty又請來了一位客人，一位上高中的小哥哥，也是一位當地的華人孩子，他會給大家介紹一下加拿大高中的情況。聽起來，和中國差別還是很大的呢。

Hi guys， it’s Kitty in Canada and welcome to the Article of this week。

Today we have another special guest with us。 He came here when he was in grade 6 and now is in grade 9 which is the first year of high school。 In Canada， middle and high school are quite different so let’s see how he feels about High school！

Hello！ I am Jeremy， as Kitty mentioned I am currently attending my first year of high school， Grade 9。 The middle school schedules are similar to the school schedule in China， but high school is very different。

The schedule is divided into 2 semesters with January 30th as the transition day between the 2 semesters。 The classes in each of the semesters are the same， that means I have to go to the same classes every day。 For example， this semester I have Social Studies， Science， Math， Music/Art， and Language Arts， I have these classes in this exact order every day。

The biggest difference I feel like there is between middle and high school is the number of people。 From the staff to the students to even the number of classrooms。 There are about 110 classrooms and around 2200 students。 Fun fact： Fredericton High School was once the biggest school in the entire British Commonwealth！ With over 4000 students。

Even though we have a homeroom period at the beginning of the day， it is very short。 After homeroom， we all head off to different classes with different students。 Each class is 62 minutes， Lunch is 60 minutes。 We also have 2 breaks， the morning break is 15 minutes and the afternoon break is 10 minutes。 It is also important to note that there is no break between classes， but a 5 minute time for transition and that about it for the schedules of a Canadian high school。

After school， the school provides clubs， sports teams， and other extracurricular activities such as bands， drama productions， and leadership groups。 There is homework almost every day but I usually finish them in half an hour。

今天我又邀請到一位客人，他上6年級時來到了加拿大，現在上9年級 ，也就是高中的第一年。

在加拿大，高中和初中有很大的不同， 讓我們來聽聽他對高中生活的感受吧。

大家好，我是Jeremy，現在正在讀九年級（高中一年級）。

在加拿大，初中課程的作息時間跟中國差不多，但高中的作息時間卻完全不同。

高中的課程作息時間，以每年的一月三十號為界分成上、下兩個學期。兩個學期的課程設定是不一樣的，但任何一個學期內的每一天的課都是一樣的。

比如說：這學期我第一節課是社會科學，第二節是科學，第三節是數學，第四節是音樂/美術， 最後是英語語言文學。也就是說，整整一個學期我每天上的課程都是按照這個順序，是完全一樣的課程。是不是有點千篇一律，缺乏變化？

我覺得初中和高中最大的區別是學校內的人數，從學生人數到員工人數到教室數都比初中要多的多。我上的高中叫弗萊高中，大概有110間教室和2200學生。

一個有趣的事就是：弗萊高中曾經是整個英聯邦最大的高中，當時一共有4000多學生。

我們每天都有一節homeroom課，這節課非常短。

Homeroom以後，我們會跟不同的同學上不同的課。每節課是62分鐘，午餐時間是60分鐘。我們還有兩段課間休息時間，上午有15分鐘，下午有10分鐘。每節課中間沒有課間休息時間，只有5分鐘的換課時間。

放學以後，學校內有各種俱樂部、體育隊和其他課後活動比如樂隊、話劇團和學生代表團。通常每天都有作業，但最多半小時也就做完了。

Language Art- 英語

This word is very common because the English class is not called English but called Language Art in school。 Language Art is the fancy version of the word English class。 It’s very easy to understand why it’s called that name if you know what the word ‘language’ and ‘Art’ means， It’s like you know this language， but you have to make it sounds nice and beautiful just like a beautiful painting。 In other words， The art of a certain language。

這個詞在學校很常 見 ，因為在學校裡英語課叫Language Art ， 不叫English。Language Art 是一個很奇妙的叫法。如果你知道 ‘Language’ 和 ‘Art’ 是什麼意思的話 ， 這個詞就很容易理解了，比如說你知道一門語言是不夠的，要把他說的有美感才行。換種說法就是一門語言的藝術 。
